Love Japan’s realistic fake food? Now you can wear it on your head as an accessory!

No one wants to have egg on their face, but if you want in on your head, this Japanese company is happy to oblige.

One of the many great things about eating out in Japan is the fake food samples that are presented outside the restaurant. Sometimes it can be hard to tell what a dish will actually look like from a written menu, so they’re super helpful for helping you decide if a restaurant is right for you before you even go inside.

So… pretty….
Oh right, I was supposed to be picking my dinner!

Some of the fake food samples are really beautifully made, so much so that you may have thought about stealing them and wearing them on your head… maybe.

But now you don’t have to live a life of plastic-sample-stealing crime to get that food fashion you crave so badly. One of the companies that makes the realistic fake food for restaurants, Fake Food Hatanaka, has now released what it calls the ii-Fake line of accessories that feature their signature plastic dishes.

Here’s a sample of some of their wares:

▼ Nothing quite completes that “I woke up like this” look
like a pile of spaghetti and meat sauce in your hair.

▼ “Oh this old thing? I just tossed it up there this morning.”

food-accessories-04

▼ The egg on that tsukimi soba really brings out the yolks in your eyes.

food-accessories-03

▼ When you want to have emo hair but also
want to show your love of bacon and eggs to the world.

food-accessories-06

▼ One of my favorites for its subtlety: a bacon bow.

food-accessories-08

▼ And for those who want the complete
opposite of subtlety: the full-on Medusa-hair omelet soba!

If you’re a fan of Japanese food samples and crazy hair accessories, then check out Fake Food Hatanaka’s online accessory shop ii-fake. There’s much more available than what we’ve shown here, though a lot of it has been so popular it’s already sold out.

Beautiful Japanese maid uniform bikini sets are really kawaii!

Now you can go swimming in your maid’s costume this summer.

Japanese online swimwear retailer Pixy Party is making a name for itself with cute and sexy collections designed to make girls look like adorable waterside pixy fairies. This summer, they’re dedicating a whole line of bikinis to a different type of fantasy, with the “I Love Maid Lovely Bikini Set” featuring black-and-white numbers with lace, buttons and bowties in three eye-catching designs.

img_104981_2

▼ The first style features a lacy drawstring top and cute black-and-white briefs that perfectly replicate a maid’s uniform with bowtie details.

img_104981_3

▼ The second design comes with equally pretty details, including a lace neck strap and tiny black buttons.

img_104981_4

▼ The third design adds some maid-style frills to the straps, along with a thin, flowing black ribbon.

img_104981_5

The company mentions that the outfits are designed to be worn in and out of the pool, at events like summer outdoor festivals.

img_104981_6

While the lace details and embellishments are firmly sewn in to withstand use in water, the bikini tops are said to pair well with shorts and skirts when worn at outdoor events.

img_104981_9

Brave maids, of course, are free to wear the bikinis whichever way they like, and can even play mix-and-match with all three sets.

The bikinis are available in small, medium and large sizes, and are currently available to purchase online for 5,184 yen (US$50.38) each, for delivery within Japan, or outside Japan if you use Japanwebshopping!

Cat’s eye contacts are cute AND creepy…

Cosmetics company Eye Style teams with popular Japanese cosplayer Nekomu Otogi to release these cute but disturbing cat’s eye contact lenses.

There’s no question that cats have superior night vision and possibly possess a Terminator-style HUD that allows them to quickly triangulate the trajectory of their natural prey and/or laser pointer dots, allowing them to pounce at lightning speeds and in low light conditions. It’s an amazing super power, but it comes with the trade-off that their pupils wind up being creepy vertical slits that are disconcerting to look at whenever you catch your feline “friend” staring at you from the corner of the room.

Of course, super vision is far out of reach for mankind, but now, thanks to popular cosplayer Nekomu Otogi and cosmetics retailer Eye Style, you can at least borrow the feline’s amazing powers of creeping people out with these cat’s eye color contacts.

nyan_nya_3

It isn’t that Nekomu Otogi cosplays much as a cat (well, outside of the purposes of promoting these contacts, as you can see below), but according to the product’s official website, Otogi volunteered to produce the contacts because, she claims, she’s always wanted something like them but could never find a suitable substitute on the market.

The contacts come in yellow, red, two shades of blue, purple, pink, brown and gray, and may just help you add that special flare to any cosplay, regardless of your costume’s relationship to felines. Or, you could just wear them daily as normal and revel in the spit takes of passersby as you stroll around (most likely) Akihabara.

nyan_nya_2

The contacts retail for 4,212 yen (US$40) for a pair that Eye Style says will last for around a month of on-and-off wear and you can order from Eye Style’s official website. As with most cool Japanese stuff, shipping is domestic only, but you have JWS  to get the contacts sent to you.

Neckties for the “otaku” businessman

Being an otaku in the corporate world isn’t always easy, strict fashion guidelines prevent you from expressing the real you. Sure you can wear some  anime printed underwear, but it’s not ..well how to say this….cheeky….it’s a bit cowardice like putting Coke in a Pepsi bottle during a Pepsi fan meeting.

Now though, you can hide in plain sight, looking quite dashing in a conservative way, but still wearing your heart on your sleeve, with these Girls&Panzer neckties.

Worn beneath a suit they look like ordinary striped ties….

When you take off your jacket they still won’t reveal a thing..no worries you still look like a “serious” corporate worker.

Then when you turn over your tie a smile spreads over your face…knowing that they can take the otaku out of the otaku world, but you can never take the otaku out of the otaku!

They come in two colors, the one above with Nishisumu Miho in blue and Akiyama Yukasato in green.

They are now up for pre-order(delivery in July) and the cheapest option (various sites are selling them) was the one we found here ¥ 4,860 at Gee!Store.

Cosplay and rejuvenate your skin at the same time with new Sadako vs Kayako face masks

ace off with two of the horror world’s most terrifying characters as they make you look both shocking and beautiful at the very same time.

Despite being two of the most feared women in Japanese cinema history, Sadako, from the Ring movie series, and Kayako, from the Ju-on (The Grudge) franchise, are suddenly popping up everywhere in the lead-up to their crossover film, Sadako vs. Kayako, which is due to be released in Japan on June 18. Kayako and her son have been sharing photos of their day-to-day lives on Instagram and appearing with Sadako as terrifying cup clinger figurines, and both of the terrifying women have shown up to implore viewers to vote for them in humorous election campaigns. They even threw and hit the opening pitch during Swallows vs fighters baseball game…the person who recorded this video lost all his hair one day after the match…leaving him bald as cue ball.

Now the two ladies are ready to take over your face with a new set of moisturising face masks.

▼ Sadako (below, left) can be seen with a swath of long black hair covering her face. Kayako (below, right) comes with a bloody wound in the middle of her forehead.

111

Containing hyaluronic acid, collagen, and aloe vera extracts, these masks endeavour to keep you looking young and supple underneath, while making you look ghoulishly terrifying on the outside. Sadako comes with the surprisingly non-terrifying scent of lavender while Kayako smells like roses.

13

The “Turn into Sadako vs Kayako Face Pack” retails for 800 yen (US$7.30) and contains one of each character for you to enjoy on your own or share with a friend so you can recreate all the terror from the upcoming movie inside your very own home. The face packs will be released in conjunction with the opening of the movie on June 18 and can be purchased from cinemas, drugstores and Don Quixote shops within Japan.
