Walk like a robot cat from the future with Doraemon Reebok shoes

To the casual observer, Doraemon must appear to be the patron saint of Japan; his image can be found everywhere. Doraemon’s face or colour scheme crops up on goods ranging from McDonald’s toys to PC cushions to face masks.

For those unfamiliar with His Works, Doraemon is a robot cat sent back from the future to help schoolboy Nobita navigate the trials and travails of everyday life by producing a series of amazing devices.

While we may have to wait a little longer for a genuine “anywhere door” or “memory bread,” we can now walk, run, and exercise in style with these new Doraemon Reebok trainers, which certainly catch the eye.

Coinciding with the Japanese release of the latest Doraemon movie, Doraemon’s Great Adventure to the South Pole on the March 4, these funky trainers are a collaboration between Reebok Instapump Fury and design company atmos and also go on sale on the same day.

But, fashionistas may ask, what could possibly go with garishly light-blue shoes?

The answer may be yet more Doraemon-themed blueness. Perhaps in the form of this Kway jacket. It does however look a little bit thin for Antarctic adventuring, so that’s probably best left to those with amenable robotic felines.

▼ The shoes proclaim the wearer’s love of Dorayaki, Doraemon’s favourite snack.
Whether this will result in being handed the delicious snacks is unclear.

▼ The pump resembles Doraemon’s signature bell.

▼ Even the inner soles feature Doraemon.

The shoes are available from the Reebok Harajuku store or the atmos website and retail at 21,600 yen (US$190), including tax. While at time of writing the atmos website only had sizes up to 24.5 (US size 6.5) there is the option to request sizes up to 30 centimetres (US size 12).

The Kway jacket is also available from the atmos website for 13,824 yen. Perfect for that well-known Doraemon and Crossfit-fan niche.

JWS japanwebshopping website renewal.

Let me first thank you all dear customers/friends who have been putting your trust in our service, without your help we’d all be working for other companies and we wouldn’t enjoy our jobs/lives as much as we do now.

We’ve been  getting the most surprising and unusual requests and thereby expanding our horizon in what you want and we learn what makes our fellow human being tick. Communicating with folks from all around the world has been a challenging at times (we had to bring in a part-time Spanish speaker/translator  and on a rare occasion a Russian translator), but besides  these rare hiccups, chatting with you through Skype/WordPress/mail and Facebook has been a blast.

We also value your input a lot, and a common complain was that our website loaded like snail…our mistake was that we tried to put as much information and connecting links in it as possible, thereby creating a headache for those without high speed internet access.

So we went a bit simpler this time, and changed the look to a more material/metal look. The pages load a bit faster and it’s definitely easier to the eye. Our love for manga and anime are also more present this time around.

This dark metallic look continues in the separate product pages.

We still haven’t completed the whole site yet though(especially the Japanese section), but we’re working hard to have it finished before Christmas.

Thank you all so much for your patience and in the meantime we will continue to be the best/safest/cheapest (and most personal) personal shopper for you.

The cutest anime character is a robot cat whose ears were eaten by mice.

You can’t make this up; A blue cat who used to be yellow was sent from the future to help a “rock da nashi” (useless) elementary school kid and whose ears were eaten by some vicious mice and then turned blue. The cat also has pocket from which the most amazing things appear, for example the “dokedemo” door (the everywhere door), with which you can go anywhere, not only places but also into the future or in the past…much more convenient than a Delorean me think.

Doraemon eating his favorite snack; dorayaki, a pancake like snack filled with red bean paste (anko)

The Doraemon cartoon was created in 1969 by two men team  Fujiko and  Fujio and continued until 1996, the animation which started in 1979 ran for a whopping 1,787 episodes and is still aired today – roughly a decade later. Doraemon and his sidekick Nobuto  are considered something of a national treasure here in Japan. Doraemon is for young and old, the series describe the problems of everyday life in Japan for elementary school kids and their parents and teaches a lesson in a not too over the top way. Like crayon Shinchan or Sazabon,  it is also really funny for adults and kids alike, which is the reason why I at 44 still love to watch it…

Yeah in the early years folks had to imagine the colors as everything was in black and white.

Every Japanese knows Doraemon or Dorachan (Japanese tend to put “chan” behind names to emphasize their cuteness), and in any Japanese house you’ll find some Doraemon related product, may it be a toy, a pen, a notebook, cutlery…it goes on and on.

Doraemon school note for elementary school

Everybody would like to own a Doraemon, a good hearted friend who is not only lovely to look at, but can also make your wishes come true and raises your kids as an extra included bonus. Well the first part of this wish is manageable however the “make your wishes come true” is still far in the future..but who knows, one day…

As usual with great fame comes big responsibi….no I meant merchandise、which takes care of the “I wish I had a doraemon” for both kids and adults.  Let’s have a look what Doraemon inspired or related goods you can get.
