Not just a hover board, it’s an Ultra Hoverboard!

Nothing has captured our imagination as much as the hover board, used by Marty Mc Fly in Back to the Future, and nobody has ever not accused me of over-exaggerating…wow how did I come up with that last sentence?

Still when we reached the same year as the fictional year in that movie, people started to compare the events and things in the movie to our real lives. A lot of things were spot on, some things were close and with some imagination they could represent those things in this world…we never, however, got close to a real hover board…sure Toyota announced a hover board, but that could only be used in a certain area, and let’s not forget that it was only a prototype, rendering the comparison useless.

We needed a superhero to bring us one, because we mere mortals weren’t up to the task…and who better to ask than our best imaginary friend, the super hero who’s products have steadily supplied jws with a steady income, the man of fashion, the man of ULTRA!

Well it doesn’t really hover like in the movie, but this is as close as it gets…well in this century at least…for those wanting to wait, be my guest, but let me tell you, it’s tough to ride when you’re over 95.

So what is it? Well basically it’s a  mini segway, much like the often exploding two wheel versions, but this one is one wheeled, making it perfect for those who prefer  a lateral movement like a skateboard. Created by Kintone, a Japanese maker of mini segways, this  one won’t explode, but will give you some stares by onlookers….especially at night, because the board is fitted with led’s around the board and beneath the board, making it look like you’re floating. Connect your smartphone through blue tooth to the speakers(!?) the board and play some woooosh sounds and you’ll have them call NASA faster than you can say JON BON JOVI, JON BON JOVI, BON JON BOVI.

This ride’s top speed is 16 km/h and it will climb  13 degrees slopes and the 4400mah lithium battery will last 16 km of riding, but you’re probably already snatched of the street by men in black suits and stuffed in a big black van, by the time you hit this board’s limit.

It’s 84cm in length and 23cm wide, the minimum weight of the rider should be at least 20kg in order for the sensors to work properly, the maximum weight is 100 kg, which leaves Dwayne Johnson, the best paid male actor, crying in his bed wishing he could shed his muscles.

The “hover” board comes in two versions, the ULTRA SEVEN version and the ULTRA MAN version, which don’t differ much besides having a slightly different logo.

The video below makes it all a bit clearer how it all works.

Here are some more pics of this awesome board;

The Ultraman version

The Ultra seven version

A MAN of ULTRA Riding wheel in action.

The price of this beauty is 105.840 yen (1,037 dollars)…but if you’re not into Ultraman, you can get one for half the price! Right, the original Kintone riding wheel on which this board is based retails for only 50.000 yen, with all the same specs as the Ultra board, but it’s smaller with a 58cm length, and you can’t use it as an objet in your Ultra layer.

Reebok releases limited edition Instapump Fury Road sneakers to celebrate upcoming Godzilla movie

tep out in a pair of Godzilla kicks featuring a number of awesome beastly details.

If Godzilla ever needed a new pair of shoes, these sneakers would be up to the task. A joint collaboration between Reebok and the MegaHouse brand that belongs to video game publishing giant Bandai Namco, the new sneakers come in two designs: Reebok CLASSIC × MegaHouse Instapump Fury Road Ver.GODZILLA and the Reebok CLASSIC × MegaHouse Instapump Fury Road Ver.ShinGodzilla.

PowerPoint Presentation

Both use the distinctive Reebok Instapump Fury silhouette, and the Godzilla version features a textured black material which resembles the skin of the giant monster.

▼ The design that runs along the side of the shoe is another homage to the beast.

▼ And just to let everyone know whose shoes you’re wearing, the heel is emblazoned with the title “King of the Monsters”.

sub2

The soles feature a spectacular red-and-black clawed footprint design, along with the words “Godzilla Vs. Fury Road” in Japanese.

sub3

While the Godzilla sneakers celebrate the awesome stylings of the original beast, the “Shin Godzilla” design acts as a nod to its latest incarnation, set to wreak havoc on Tokyo in the upcoming Shin Godzilla movie, which will be out in Japanese theatres on July 29 and marketed internationally under the title, Godzilla Resurgence.

These kicks incorporate phosphorescent material into the design, to create an otherworldly glow after dark.

sub12

The grey, black and green colours of the shoe are complimented with red accents, including a bloody, three-clawed gash on the heel.

sub8

These soles feature a slightly different Godzilla footprint design, again using the words, “Godzilla Vs. Fury Road” in Japanese.

Both styles retail for 28,000 yen (US$263.89) each, plus tax, with the Premium Bandai website in Japan accepting pre-orders from July 29, to coincide with the release of the new Godzilla film. For a full list of retailers in Japan that will be stocking the shoes from the official on-sale date in January 2017, check out the MegaHouse website for more details.

Japanwebshopping.com gets a Spring make-over.

It’s May, the flowers bloom, the birds lay eggs, the smell of fresh green grass tickles your prefrontal cortex….memories from  happy times are triggered and a feeling of nostalgia flows through your body. Life is good.  But May isn’t just a month of memories, it’s also a month of renewal, new wallpapers are chosen, Ikea is busier than ever and websites get a sunny make-over. Japanwebshopping has been sporting a very dark look, yeah we are freaks and we’re proud of it! Problem is that it was maybe a bit too otaku and scared away the casual shopper. We went to work and created a lighter and easier accessible site, while still holding on to our beloved black and gray (that we are great Yohji Yamamoto fans is something that goes without saying).

Let us know what you think about it, your opinion greatly matters to us.

1/1 scale armored batman for in your living room/bed room/dungeon.

Patiently we are waiting for the release of Batman vs Superman next week….nah, patiently my a.. , I’ve been replaying all the batman movies of late, trying to get my sons interested in something else than Youkai Watch, Naruto and Doraemon. Yeah at present time these two super heroes would lose from an earless robot cat from the future, if I asked “what movie do you guys wanna see?”. But my plan of brainwashing the rugrats is slowly reaping the fruit of my labour. No longer do I have to explain the meaning of krypronite, no weird looks are given when I walk around in my batman costume…..life is good.

1-Picture 006

But then Japanese figure maker Hot Toys releases a 220cm 1/1 scale Armored Batman replica and my kids fully supported my decision to order it, until they found out that they had to sleep in the kitchen, as the only place with space to fit this huge figure  is their bedroom….kids…selfish to the bone!

Like usual Hot Toys figures are perfect to the detail, with real looking skin, truly authentic  looking armor and even led lights to light up the eye and the foot rest.

At 1,400,000 yen it isn’t an impulse buy, but you should see it as art, it won’t lose its value and it makes for a sure breath taking display in your house or shop. (pre-order delivery in August)

Unfortunately no weight is written down, but it surely won’t be heavier than an equally priced Toyota Corolla…making it less costly than importing a car!

It will be shipped in four parts, but assembly is a breeze, making it a one time family project.

For those with little space or smaller wallets, Hot Toys also released this 1/6 scaled armored batman at about 33 centimeters it’s certainly a bit smaller but not less impressive as the same sense of detail and perfection went into this product as well. you can even change the expression of Ben Affleck, through two included interchangeable face parts leaving this figure the real actor in the wind when it comes to facial expressions. Similar to its’ big brother, the eyes also light up….and that for a measly 38,000 yen.(pre-order delivery in November)

We’d almost forgot his foe/friend Superman….29,894 yen (pre-order delivery in June)

Superman comes with 8 hands!

And finally for those with true tight living spaces these Cosbaby 6 figure set is the perfect “must have”. Cosbaby comes from cosplay baby and Hot Toys has been selling this line for quite some time now to loving collectors. (14,000 yen pre-order delivery in June)

No matter what you choose, we can get it for/to you as cheap as possible, give us a heads up!

Those folks how don’t care about figures, but wish to look like these super heroes through vigorous exercise (yes yes I’m talking about myself, admiring my flexed biceps while typing this), might be interested to know that our favorite sports apparel shop Body Maker  also jumped on the bandwagon with a new very affordable line.

This Hello Kitty phone will make you want go all garake.

Garake phones or Galapagos cell phones are a never dying breed here in Japan, go to any phone shop and you’ll find a complete line-up of the latest “dumb” phones. For those not familiar with the term Galapagos phone let me give you a small explanation: For years Japanese companies have produced phones which were years ahead of the phones produced by Nokia, Motorola etc in terms of features and technology . Amazing cameras, emoji, digital TV, radio,  paying with your phone, waterproof, mp3 players, colored screens,  internet access, you name it, they had it before Steve Jobs introduced them on the Iphone.

The only problem was that for these phones an extensive infrastructure was set up across the country which  the rest of the world didn’t adopt ..leaving the manufactures unable to export these magnificent devices and therefore creating a Galapagos island like (uh) island…a place where evolution seems to have occurred independently with the rest of the world.

Don’t think that the up-rise of the smartphone has killed the gara phone, a lot of folks still want to use their phone just to call, take an occasional picture and carry their phone in their skinny jeans pockets, those people have no use for expensive data plans and therefore stick with their flip phones. Flip phones are also trouble free, no software glitches, no software updates and have a physical keyboard and a long battery life.

Trying to sell a good old flip phone to today’s young people is close to impossible, you need better arguments than “speedier calling” and size…no, you need to re-design it in a way that it becomes more than just a piece of technology..witness the birth of the Hello Kitty phone!

2016-01-29-132625

No this is not a toy, it’s a proper phone with some limitations. First there’s a tiny 240×249 dot 1.54 inch colored screen, and it doesn’t have a camera..(.but who cares, if you’re using this, people will take pics of you.)and you’ll only be able to make phone calls and send SMS mails (no MMS), but it is sim free, has bluetooth, wifi , a micro USB slot AND it’s full of “cute software”.

photo01

We’d say that this phone would be great as:

1-phone to use as VOIP phone, it sure is a nice accessory for your room.

2-A second phone for when you go cosplaying or partying.

3-A phone for a child(but the lack of GPS would worry me)

4-Something you just buy it because you love Kitty.

5-A present for your technologically challenged girl/boy friend for valentines day.

6-You’re a business man/woman with attitude. It would go great with your Hello Kitty skull ring

It runs on the WCDMA/GSM networks (CDMA 800/2100MHz) (GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz)

The Hello Kitty Phone is available from April and OLA(the manufacturer) is taking pre-orders now.

Oh yeah the price for this lovely thing is 12,000 yen (about US$102), not too shabby right?

Robot Kitty and us wish you a Happy New Year!,Gelukkig nieuwjaar,Ein glückliches neues Jahr,Selamat Tahun Baru,Feliz año nuevo,ᖱᒣᖳᒐᒉᑊᖿᒪᔪᖱᖽᐧᒡᒧᐧᖾᒍ, 聖誕節同新年快樂,С Рождеством Христовым!,أجمل التهاني بمناسبة الميلاد و حلول السنة الجديدة

Wow it has been 2016 for nine days now and this my first post of the year…well to be honest that’s how long my hangover and upset stomach lasted…the fact that I bought a play station 4 didn’t really help speeding up my will to sit behind the PC and greet you my dear readers/customers..but my heart and thoughts were with you the whole time.

PlayStation 4 METAL GEAR SOLID V LIMITED PACK THE PHANTOM PAIN EDITION
PlayStation 4 METAL GEAR SOLID V LIMITED PACK THE PHANTOM PAIN EDITION, expensive yeah, but you didn’t think I’d get myself an ordinary one..now did you?

For those folks who have no idea how the Japanese celebrate each year’s “baton touch” (japanglish..meaning take over the job), let me give you a short description..after all the PS4 is calling my name.

On new year’s eve, most folks sit around the TV watching boxing(it used to be K1…), silly variety shows full of Yoshimoto(the biggest comedy talent agency), with the best watched being a show called waratte ikenai (you’re not allowed to laugh), which my three sons aged 6, 8 and 11 love…which kinda explains the target audience..

Another big group watches the yearly Kohakku, a singing show in which artists are divided in two groups and have to battle and if you’re not into Japanese music you might feel better getting your toenails pulled. A lot of families eat soba or buckwheat noodles, because the length of the noodles represents longevity(you can’t make this up)

When it’s twelve o’clock don’t expect any special celebrations like fireworks, no we wish each other an Akemashite omedetou( ou is pronounced as oo for the Dutch readers), and some might brace the cold and head up to the nearest shrine (Temples are rarely visited during festivities) to perform a season’s first prayer…others go to bed and wait till the next day…expect a lot of climbing and waiting if you want to experience this.

New year’s day is when the families come together for celebrations, kind of like Christmas in other countries, they have a meal mostly consisting out of shabu shabu or sukiyaki, sushi and other delicacies.

I’m sure each family has their own traditions, but these are the basics..so for those who do expect a huge celebration during new year’s eve…well don’t.

Back to reality..the hangover has worn off, and new requests have been received, so let’s see what’s new.

Let’s start with a little video to see what Hello Kitty and Mazinger Z have in common…

Yep that’s a Kitty with attitude, this Mazinger Z inspired  robot kitty is now up for pre-order from January 6 till January 24. It’s about 105mm in height and weighs 400 grams(chubby kitty). It’s made out of die-cast and ABS with delivery scheduled for late may. The little Kitty figure is included.

After they bumped into each other they changed souls (true story) and besides there souls they also received each others’ looks….Yep this stuff happens all the time here in Japan.. So how did Mazinger Z look after this encounter…

Wow if that isn’t the cutest robot…you wonder how Optimus Prime would react if he’d encounter this robot. Now it’s yours to have for a mere 8,424 yen as pre-order. As usual Sanrio doesn’t accept foreign issued credit cards so you’re stuck with us…but that’s no punishment because we give you the points too!

JWS japanwebshopping website renewal.

Let me first thank you all dear customers/friends who have been putting your trust in our service, without your help we’d all be working for other companies and we wouldn’t enjoy our jobs/lives as much as we do now.

We’ve been  getting the most surprising and unusual requests and thereby expanding our horizon in what you want and we learn what makes our fellow human being tick. Communicating with folks from all around the world has been a challenging at times (we had to bring in a part-time Spanish speaker/translator  and on a rare occasion a Russian translator), but besides  these rare hiccups, chatting with you through Skype/WordPress/mail and Facebook has been a blast.

We also value your input a lot, and a common complain was that our website loaded like snail…our mistake was that we tried to put as much information and connecting links in it as possible, thereby creating a headache for those without high speed internet access.

So we went a bit simpler this time, and changed the look to a more material/metal look. The pages load a bit faster and it’s definitely easier to the eye. Our love for manga and anime are also more present this time around.

This dark metallic look continues in the separate product pages.

Firefox_Screenshot_2015-12-02T02-49-55.516Z

We still haven’t completed the whole site yet though(especially the Japanese section), but we’re working hard to have it finished before Christmas.

Thank you all so much for your patience and in the meantime we will continue to be the best/safest/cheapest (and most personal) personal shopper for you.
