It’s May, the flowers bloom, the birds lay eggs, the smell of fresh green grass tickles your prefrontal cortex….memories from happy times are triggered and a feeling of nostalgia flows through your body. Life is good. But May isn’t just a month of memories, it’s also a month of renewal, new wallpapers are chosen, Ikea is busier than ever and websites get a sunny make-over. Japanwebshopping has been sporting a very dark look, yeah we are freaks and we’re proud of it! Problem is that it was maybe a bit too otaku and scared away the casual shopper. We went to work and created a lighter and easier accessible site, while still holding on to our beloved black and gray (that we are great Yohji Yamamoto fans is something that goes without saying).
Let us know what you think about it, your opinion greatly matters to us.
Fans of Star Wars and traditional Japanese clothing, your day has come! These new hanten, traditional short-sleeve Japanese jackets, perfectly mix old and new without going overboard in any direction. Called “和Robe” (“Wa-Robe” or literally “Japanese-style Robe”), the jackets come in beige, ivory, and black and you’ll have two designs, which feature different images on the inside of the jacket, to choose from. One jacket sports an image of Yoda on a rock looking contemplative and is available in beige only, and the other offers an image of the poster for the original Star Wars film, which you can have in black or ivory.
▼ Calm and serene or…
▼ …vibrant and badass!!
Of course, it might seem odd to put the graphics on the inside of the jackets, but we think it helps maintain a good balance. And each one features “Star Wars” in large, bold letters on the back of the collar, so your love for the franchise is never totally hidden.
▼ Also, you can do this “action star” pose in photographs!
▼ He wouldn’t look out of place on Tatooine, would he?
▼ The three jacket colors and lettering
In addition to the jackets, a juban shirt (basically a Japanese-style undershirt) will also be available with a print that features both the Millennium Falcon and X-wing fighters. You can pair these undershirts with one of the Wa-Robes for a truly Star Wars-themed torso!
▼ The bold lettering probably isn’t necessary here…but who’s complaining?
The Wa-Robes and juban shirt won’t be available until June, but you can pre-order them now on Trove. The jackets are 19,440 yen each (about US$177) and the juban shirt is 11,880 yen (about $110).
We already wrote once before about fashion icon Kamenrider Ghost and his cool outfits, well this time Bandai Fashion has raised the bar a notch by releasing the exclusive 45th Anniversary line further separating the boys from the men.
In collaboration with biker gear designing and producing company Harold’s Gear they came up with some lovely stuff.
They released two chronograph watches; the Cyclone and the Shocker
The cyclone is inspired by the Cyclone bike which the first Kamen rider (Kamen rider one) used to ride.
The shocker model is of course designed with Kamen Rider’s eternal enemy in mind; the secret organization Shocker.
The watches have a Japanese movement with a 2-axis step motor and are waterproof till a 100 meters.

This mix-and-match five-piece gold-plated set is perfect for fans who don’t quite know which Sailor Moon character to pledge allegiance to.
The latest collection of planetary symbol earrings from Premium Bandai follows last year’s release, which featured the markings of the five main warriors from the series, Sailors Moon, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter and Venus.
This time, we’re travelling to the outer planetary rim, with Sailors Pluto, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Chibi Moon in the spotlight, ready to adorn your ear lobes with their planetary powers. Your look will inevitably be misaligned, however, as the set includes only one earring for each of the five characters.
The five-piece set of 18-karat gold-plated earrings is available in both pierced and non-pierced versions. Retailing for 12,960 yen (US$106), delivery is scheduled for February 2016.
The earrings are embellished with a Swarovski crystal that corresponds to the colour of each character. The symbols measure in at around one centimetre (0.4 inches) in width and one centimetre in height, making them look dainty and elegant.
Chibi Moon from the right, Sailor Neptune from the left. Because it’s hard to play favourites when all the Sailor Moon girls rock!
Japanese apparel company Kokichi has just revealed its new chinobakama, menswear that’s half chino pants, half hakama.
Less billowy than the hakama commonly worn in Japan’s past, the chinobakama, which Kokichi is also billing as “ninja pants,” can blend easily with current fashions, while still lending you an air of feudal-erastylishness.
The pants are available in navy, charcoal, or beige. In lieu of a belt, each comes with an identically colored waist cord which you tie around yourself.
Made from a durable, machine-washable 50-50 cotton/polyester blend, the chinobakama’s other modern amenities include pockets on both sides and a front zipper.
All three colors are priced at 7,800 yen (US$65) and can be found here.
They say that they are preparing an English website for foreign customers, but it might still take several weeks till a few months. So if you are in a hurry you can order them through us and since we’re not bound by an external company handling our shipping, you’ll save the 10% commission ($6.50) just on shipping.
Let me first thank you all dear customers/friends who have been putting your trust in our service, without your help we’d all be working for other companies and we wouldn’t enjoy our jobs/lives as much as we do now.
We’ve been getting the most surprising and unusual requests and thereby expanding our horizon in what you want and we learn what makes our fellow human being tick. Communicating with folks from all around the world has been a challenging at times (we had to bring in a part-time Spanish speaker/translator and on a rare occasion a Russian translator), but besides these rare hiccups, chatting with you through Skype/WordPress/mail and Facebook has been a blast.
We also value your input a lot, and a common complain was that our website loaded like snail…our mistake was that we tried to put as much information and connecting links in it as possible, thereby creating a headache for those without high speed internet access.
So we went a bit simpler this time, and changed the look to a more material/metal look. The pages load a bit faster and it’s definitely easier to the eye. Our love for manga and anime are also more present this time around.
This dark metallic look continues in the separate product pages.
We still haven’t completed the whole site yet though(especially the Japanese section), but we’re working hard to have it finished before Christmas.
Thank you all so much for your patience and in the meantime we will continue to be the best/safest/cheapest (and most personal) personal shopper for you.
