A rabbit and a monkey collaborate to create some awesome playful wear.

(former) Japaense fashion maker A Bathing Ape’s lovely mascot Baby Milo has found a new friend in Sanrio’s famous “My Melody” rabbit (or is it a rabbit, after Sanrio told us that Kitty wasn’t a kitty, I’ve lost some confidence).

For those who’ve been living under a stone for the last 25 years, let me give you some Bape facts;

-Bape was founded in 1992 in Tokyo by designer Nigo.

-Nigo got his inspiration from the 1968 film, the Planet of the Apes.

PlanetoftheapesPoster.jpg

-He gained fame after he asked Japanese artist Cornelius to wear his shirts on stage, Cornelius whose real name is Oyamada, got his stage name from the ape( never call him a monkey!) in…yeah,  planet of the apes.

The monkey and the rabbit will feature in a collection with a wide range of items for lads, ladies and kids, ranging from hoodies, t-shirts, sweaters, towels, cups and ear rings.

Sale will start August the 27th, no word yet if they will sell these products outside Japan, so just to be sure head over here and then fill out our request form and we will get it for you.

Personally I won’t see myself wearing one these hoodies, but one of these shirts would look great on jeans under a black jacket, playful yet stylish.

Strap a slab of delicious grilled meat on your back with this new backpack from Japan

This is just one of the items in a range of delicious accessories designed for meat lovers.

If you ever wanted to turn heads and make people’s mouths water as you walk by them on the street, there’s no easier way to do it than with a meaty backpack. This new product is the latest to join the weird and whacky rucksack range from quirky Japanese novelty goods store Village Vanguard, who previously thrilled us with their raw meat bag earlier this year.

niku5

Now the backpack has progressed in the cooking process, developing a deliciously seared golden brown colour that makes it look just about ready for eating.

niku4

▼ The thick slab of steak comes with a pair of soft brown straps so you can carry it around in maximum comfort.

niku2

▼ And unlike your ordinary cut of meat, this one opens up to carry everything you need for the day, complete with inner pockets.

niku3

Given its size, the meaty bag is a bargain at 2,160 yen (US$21.52). While it’s designed to be worn in summer, when the butter-topped serving would appear to sizzle in the sun, it’s still a top accessory for any time of the year!

Niku Top

And for customers who prefer to keep their meat fandom within the confines of the home, the delicious steak is also available as a plump, tender cushion.
6

If you’ve always dreamed of laying your head on a juicy piece of meat, this succulent looking cushion will give you enough meat sweats to last a lifetime.

7

▼ Also available in a raw meat version, the cushions retail for 2,160 yen each.

8

The meaty range is becoming increasingly popular with customers, so if your tastes tend towards the carnivorous variety, check out the  Village Vanguard online store and send us your request before they all sell out!

Sanrio anime bra sets for girls with smaller busts

Beauty is in the tiniest details.

Japanese lingerie brand Feast has been making a name for itself as one of the country’s premier manufacturers catering to ladies with petite “cinderella” busts. Now they’ve teamed up with Sanrio’s popular Little Twin Stars characters for their latest release, which features ribbons, frills, and gorgeous details.

With two colour variations to choose from – purple and mint blue – the fabric is cute and girly, featuring images of stars, moons and clouds, along with the logo of the two twin star characters, Kiki and Lala.

6

The comfortable tube-top style bra helps to compliment a small bustline, with its ruched material working to make breasts appear larger.

5

Born on a star, Kiki and his older sister Lala are two of Sanrio’s most well-known characters. The celestial siblings can be seen travelling to earth on a star in their logo, which sits daintily in the middle of the bra, while the straps feature frill accents and pretty ribbons.

2

The briefs also feature lacy frilled accents and can be worn with the matching bra or with the blue-coloured top as contrasting coordinates.

3

Each set retails for 6,800 yen (US$66.33) and will be sold online from 7 July at the Feast website and associated Kera Shop for delivery within Japan.

4

We are as always happy to send them to you, wherever you are in this big world.

Funny how things turn out, I admit that I’ve never been a great fan of the early Ultra Man series, but when it comes to fashion, no other superhero has it beat….maybe it’s the simple yet strong name “Ultra Man”, it’s a logo which never looks cheesy but tasteful and can be worn with all outfits. Call me a fan and when I prance around in my new Ultra yukata I know that fashion is on my side and the geek in me will be allowed to walk hand in hand with my better half.

Get ready to meet the new sheriff in town..Super Mecha Toy Story Robot Sheriff.

We’ve seen some strange Toy Story merchandise before, but this one takes it to a whole new level. Get ready to meet the new sheriff in town: “Super Mecha Toy Story Robot Sheriff.”

▼ Andy got a new toy for Christmas…
and it’s gonna kick all the other toys’ butts.

toy story mech (2)

This is no fan creation – it’s an official toy recently announced by BANDAI for release this upcoming fall. It stands a full 230 millimeters (9 inches) tall, and it is packed with as much awesome as plastically possible.

But, there’s still the question: what exactly is it? Well, for starters, it’s not just one thing – it’s five separate toys joined together into one magnificent mecha. Here’s the cast of characters:

▼ We start off with Woody,
who’s looking spiffy with some rocket boots.

toy story mech (5)

▼ Next is the horse Bullseye, who now has a…missile-launcher??

toy story mech (6)

▼ Then there’s Slinky with tank-feet…

toy story mech (7)

▼ …Hamm the hover-pig…

toy story mech (1)

▼ …and Rex, who looks like he’s finally the laser-shooting
dinosaur we’ve always dreamed of.

toy story mech (8)

▼ And with their forces combined, they become…

toy story mech (9)Twitter/@Kyukimasa

▼ Super Mecha Toy Story Robot Sheriff! Awww yeahhhh!

toy story mech (3)

▼ Not sure how effective it would be to punch with a slinky,
but we’re not going to argue with awesome!

toy story mech (4)

This creation story behind this Toy Story mecha was recently unveiled by Bandai in a short video. You can watch it here:

Personally I have no idea why the characters from Toy Story have basically turned into the Power Rangers, but hey, major creativity points to whoever at BANDAI came up with this thing!

If you want to get your own Toy Story mecha, it will be available starting November 25. The price is a steep 18,900 yen (US$177), but you’ve got six full months to get your piggy bank (or Godzilla bank) ready.

Cosplay and rejuvenate your skin at the same time with new Sadako vs Kayako face masks

ace off with two of the horror world’s most terrifying characters as they make you look both shocking and beautiful at the very same time.

Despite being two of the most feared women in Japanese cinema history, Sadako, from the Ring movie series, and Kayako, from the Ju-on (The Grudge) franchise, are suddenly popping up everywhere in the lead-up to their crossover film, Sadako vs. Kayako, which is due to be released in Japan on June 18. Kayako and her son have been sharing photos of their day-to-day lives on Instagram and appearing with Sadako as terrifying cup clinger figurines, and both of the terrifying women have shown up to implore viewers to vote for them in humorous election campaigns. They even threw and hit the opening pitch during Swallows vs fighters baseball game…the person who recorded this video lost all his hair one day after the match…leaving him bald as cue ball.

Now the two ladies are ready to take over your face with a new set of moisturising face masks.

▼ Sadako (below, left) can be seen with a swath of long black hair covering her face. Kayako (below, right) comes with a bloody wound in the middle of her forehead.

111

Containing hyaluronic acid, collagen, and aloe vera extracts, these masks endeavour to keep you looking young and supple underneath, while making you look ghoulishly terrifying on the outside. Sadako comes with the surprisingly non-terrifying scent of lavender while Kayako smells like roses.

13

The “Turn into Sadako vs Kayako Face Pack” retails for 800 yen (US$7.30) and contains one of each character for you to enjoy on your own or share with a friend so you can recreate all the terror from the upcoming movie inside your very own home. The face packs will be released in conjunction with the opening of the movie on June 18 and can be purchased from cinemas, drugstores and Don Quixote shops within Japan.

Useful art: Porcelain sake glass.

Do you drink your Chateau Margaux from a paper cup, your Duvel beer straight from the bottle?

Click away, now you cultural barbarian, because the “rice wine glass” is for those who enjoy the best things in life to the full. A basic product, no matter how good, is  not at its best without the proper accessories…a lovely cognac is so much better experienced in a tulip or balloon glass than in a small glass with ice. A Canon D1 will take such better pictures when equipped with a proper lens..hey even I became a better version of myself after I met my wife (but this is more due to diligent training).

So why would you spend 18,000 yen on a glass to drink a 5000 yen sake?  Well simply because you can. If you have the means to live a life with few limitations, why would you limit yourself to drinking sake from an inferior glass?

The Rice wine glass’ foot,  stem and  bowl are made out of one piece, a first in the world. The soil used is of the highest quality used for Amakusa pottery from Kumamoto prefecture. Any sake lover worth his salt will tell you that sake is best drunk from a porcelain cup.  The fine craftsmen from  Tashiro Toukiten  shaped the glass to look like a rice kernel and its almost sexy in shape, held against the light you can do nothing but admire the beauty of this glass.

There are no limits to what you can put in this glass of course, even beer would taste better in this glass and yeah you can put your chateaux Margaux in it too…..what are you still doing here, you Neanderthal  !

This would make agreat fatherday’s gift too, and even if your father hasn’t tried the delights of Japanese sake, he’ll sure be willing to give it a try with this glass!

The Spline board,a succesfull crossbred of a skateboard and a J-Board.

What do you get when you cross a J-board with a skateboard…….. A spline board! A spline or better said, a flat spline, is a device to draw curves, it’s modern term is “flexible curve” and from the name you might get an idea of what the spline board excels at….cornering and curving.

The original J-board(caster board) is quite a nifty device, through balancing and moving your lower body you create speed, even up hill.  My sons who are pretty good skateboarders got theirs a few years back and initially they left their skateboards behind , enjoying the relative ease of moving around on a J-board…but that enthusiasm has settled a bit in the last few years and they returned doing ollies and riding the ramps on their  Powell boards. Sure they could do an ollie on their J boards, but it was all less natural, the hard plastic just didn’t flex or flexed too much in the wrong places. Nothing beats a wooden board when riding the ramps and performing tricks. The hard plastic cheap ass  tires didn’t help to improve that experience.

The J board EX

DUB STACK a Japanese maker of skateboards cross bred one of their skateboards with a J board and unlike cross bred dogs which only get improved looks, but lose their natural born qualities, this baby turned out to be a revelation! A healthy baby was born and listened to the name Spline Skateboard™ DSB-13

They used a serious deck made out of 7ply Canadian Maple, cut it in half and connected those parts with a UHMW (ultra high molecular weight polyethylene) /glass fiber flexible center part.

Spline skateboard DSB-13 deck specification
The center console makes for easy carrying

Than they used 76mm wheels with a 85A hardness for smooth running in and out- doors.

Spline skateboard DSB-13 Wheel Spec

For the trucks they used Aluminum A356 with a PU cushion. These wheels have 360 degree rotation, and this in combination with the PU shock absorption makes you able to do tricks not possible on a J or skate board.

Spline skateboard DSB-13 track spec

The bearings used are ABEC-7(same like those on the stereo vinyl cruiser), these are smooth and strong and can withstand abuse on the rough city streets or on the ramps.

The dimensions

Now check out this video to see this board in action.

The only downfall I noticed, is that the advised maximum weight of the rider is  65 kg, but I’ve been riding it with my 75 kg(too much ramen) and didn’t experience any problems with shocks or smoothness of the ride…

So my boys are happy campers and they steal the show at the skating ramps…making me a proud dad!

The price is around 11,000 yen which makes it cheaper than a fully loaded skate board and just a tad more expensive than a J board.

Sign your name with this Mobile suit Gundam Zabi Family fountain pen.

“What comes so hard from history
Comes so easy to my pen” (Susan Werner)

Yeah I know that we live in a time that handwritten letters are a rarity….replaced by the cold keyboards on our electronic devices, the traditional fountain pen leads a lonely life. Years of communicating through e-mails have made us lose this particular skill that sets us apart from our other fellow human beings, a handwritten sentence is like leaving a big fat fingerprint, sprinkled with DNA and a bit of skin tissue, there’s no doubt whose it is.

https://i0.wp.com/imperfectlyhappy.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/letter-writing.jpg

Nothing looks cooler (I’m a bit exaggerating now) than a person who takes out a fountain pen and writes a small note in a perfect distinguished handwriting , it shows analog class in a world led by everything digital and it shows confidence. A handwritten letter will open more hearts than a smiley e-emoji. It shows that you went the extra mile, and in this era of short cuts, that is a breeze of fresh air.

A fountain pen should be a reflection of oneself though , a skater who pulls out a $4000,- Mont Blanc pen to sign a check at the local diner would be more observed as a criminal than a confident business man full of “savoir de vivre”…

This collaboration model of Japanese pen maker PILOT and Premium Bandai fills the needs of  Gundam fans in the need of some classy distinguishability. Based on the Mobile Suit Gundam Zabi family this beautiful looking pen comes in green/black with the image of ZEON in gold. the point or nib of the pen is gold coloured and engraved with the letters ZEON. The tip is an “F” (fine) making it versatile in its usage (think resume..).

The pen comes in a nice box and includes two cartridges, blue and black and since PILOT is a world wide known brand, extra carts shouldn’t be hard to get.

The price for this lovely article is 7,560 yen (you’ll receive 75 points  too), and is now up for pre-order with delivery in October.
