Japanese lingerie brand Feast has been making a name for itself as one of the country’s premier manufacturers catering to ladies with petite “cinderella” busts. Now they’ve teamed up with Sanrio’s popular Little Twin Stars characters for their latest release, which features ribbons, frills, and gorgeous details.
With two colour variations to choose from – purple and mint blue – the fabric is cute and girly, featuring images of stars, moons and clouds, along with the logo of the two twin star characters, Kiki and Lala.
The comfortable tube-top style bra helps to compliment a small bustline, with its ruched material working to make breasts appear larger.
Born on a star, Kiki and his older sister Lala are two of Sanrio’s most well-known characters. The celestial siblings can be seen travelling to earth on a star in their logo, which sits daintily in the middle of the bra, while the straps feature frill accents and pretty ribbons.
The briefs also feature lacy frilled accents and can be worn with the matching bra or with the blue-coloured top as contrasting coordinates.
Each set retails for 6,800 yen (US$66.33) and will be sold online from 7 July at the Feast website and associated Kera Shop for delivery within Japan.
We are as always happy to send them to you, wherever you are in this big world.
Is Hello Kitty cute enough to get an analog camera to sell in 2016?
It goes without saying, perhaps, but if there is a single “Queen of Cute,” it would be Hello Kitty. The character’s adorableness is pretty much her only selling point — and she’s been making bank for as long as she’s been around! Of course, since Sanrio is open to licensing Hello Kitty to all sorts of stuff, it was probably in inevitable that she’d show up in some unusual places. But this might be the strangest we’ve seen yet.
Fujifilm’s Instax Mini Hello Kitty is an instant camera that’s somehow been on the market for around two years. We’re not sure who’s buying them, but we do have to admit that they’re surprisingly cute! If you can get past the whole “cyclops Hello Kitty” thing.
▼ IT NEVER BLINKS!!
And this year, Fujifilm is releasing a limited edition 2016 model! The new features that make this a must-buy are…a red bow? Well, if you’re a dedicated collector or just looking for a fun way to take photos of your friends, we suppose this would work.
▼ Regular model on left, limited-edition model on right
As for what exactly this camera does, it’s basically a Polaroid that prints photos on small photos with cute Hello Kitty borders. While it seems kind of odd for people to be using this when nearly everyone has a far more powerful camera built into their phones, there definitely is something fun about having tiny, physical photos. And we bet it’s a lot easier to get people to smile for the camera when it looks like Hello Kitty!
▼ A 2014 commercial for the camera featuring Hello Kitty and…bears?
So, should you run out and buy the new model? Well, we wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t want to spend 10,670 yen (about US$93) on a camera that takes tiny photos. But at the same time, we wouldn’t blame if you did either! You can find the cameras on Fujifilm’s website, and the regular pink version is available on Amazon Japan , if you don’t care about the red bow.
Garake phones or Galapagos cell phones are a never dying breed here in Japan, go to any phone shop and you’ll find a complete line-up of the latest “dumb” phones. For those not familiar with the term Galapagos phone let me give you a small explanation: For years Japanese companies have produced phones which were years ahead of the phones produced by Nokia, Motorola etc in terms of features and technology . Amazing cameras, emoji, digital TV, radio, paying with your phone, waterproof, mp3 players, colored screens, internet access, you name it, they had it before Steve Jobs introduced them on the Iphone.
The only problem was that for these phones an extensive infrastructure was set up across the country which the rest of the world didn’t adopt ..leaving the manufactures unable to export these magnificent devices and therefore creating a Galapagos island like (uh) island…a place where evolution seems to have occurred independently with the rest of the world.
Don’t think that the up-rise of the smartphone has killed the gara phone, a lot of folks still want to use their phone just to call, take an occasional picture and carry their phone in their skinny jeans pockets, those people have no use for expensive data plans and therefore stick with their flip phones. Flip phones are also trouble free, no software glitches, no software updates and have a physical keyboard and a long battery life.
Trying to sell a good old flip phone to today’s young people is close to impossible, you need better arguments than “speedier calling” and size…no, you need to re-design it in a way that it becomes more than just a piece of technology..witness the birth of the Hello Kitty phone!
No this is not a toy, it’s a proper phone with some limitations. First there’s a tiny 240×249 dot 1.54 inch colored screen, and it doesn’t have a camera..(.but who cares, if you’re using this, people will take pics of you.)and you’ll only be able to make phone calls and send SMS mails (no MMS), but it is sim free, has bluetooth, wifi , a micro USB slot AND it’s full of “cute software”.
We’d say that this phone would be great as:
1-phone to use as VOIP phone, it sure is a nice accessory for your room.
2-A second phone for when you go cosplaying or partying.
3-A phone for a child(but the lack of GPS would worry me)
4-Something you just buy it because you love Kitty.
5-A present for your technologically challenged girl/boy friend for valentines day.
Wow it has been 2016 for nine days now and this my first post of the year…well to be honest that’s how long my hangover and upset stomach lasted…the fact that I bought a play station 4 didn’t really help speeding up my will to sit behind the PC and greet you my dear readers/customers..but my heart and thoughts were with you the whole time.
For those folks who have no idea how the Japanese celebrate each year’s “baton touch” (japanglish..meaning take over the job), let me give you a short description..after all the PS4 is calling my name.
On new year’s eve, most folks sit around the TV watching boxing(it used to be K1…), silly variety shows full of Yoshimoto(the biggest comedy talent agency), with the best watched being a show called waratte ikenai (you’re not allowed to laugh), which my three sons aged 6, 8 and 11 love…which kinda explains the target audience..
Another big group watches the yearly Kohakku, a singing show in which artists are divided in two groups and have to battle and if you’re not into Japanese music you might feel better getting your toenails pulled. A lot of families eat soba or buckwheat noodles, because the length of the noodles represents longevity(you can’t make this up)
When it’s twelve o’clock don’t expect any special celebrations like fireworks, no we wish each other an Akemashite omedetou( ou is pronounced as oo for the Dutch readers), and some might brace the cold and head up to the nearest shrine (Temples are rarely visited during festivities) to perform a season’s first prayer…others go to bed and wait till the next day…expect a lot of climbing and waiting if you want to experience this.
New year’s day is when the families come together for celebrations, kind of like Christmas in other countries, they have a meal mostly consisting out of shabu shabu or sukiyaki, sushi and other delicacies.
I’m sure each family has their own traditions, but these are the basics..so for those who do expect a huge celebration during new year’s eve…well don’t.
Back to reality..the hangover has worn off, and new requests have been received, so let’s see what’s new.
Let’s start with a little video to see what Hello Kitty and Mazinger Z have in common…
Yep that’s a Kitty with attitude, this Mazinger Z inspired robot kitty is now up for pre-order from January 6 till January 24. It’s about 105mm in height and weighs 400 grams(chubby kitty). It’s made out of die-cast and ABS with delivery scheduled for late may. The little Kitty figure is included.
After they bumped into each other they changed souls (true story) and besides there souls they also received each others’ looks….Yep this stuff happens all the time here in Japan.. So how did Mazinger Z look after this encounter…
Wow if that isn’t the cutest robot…you wonder how Optimus Prime would react if he’d encounter this robot. Now it’s yours to have for a mere 8,424 yen as pre-order. As usual Sanrio doesn’t accept foreign issued credit cards so you’re stuck with us…but that’s no punishment because we give you the points too!
For a lot people the three most satisfying things in life start with a “S”, sleeping, sex and shopping, for my wife it’s four since my name is Serge…(get disapproving look from wife and pitiful look from co-workers..). We can’t help you with the sex and sleep part, actually we are probably going to ruin that with the introduction of these awesome shopping sites. We will separate this story into four parts, because there are just too many good sites here in Japan selling just so much amazing stuff…
We are here to help, translate and advise you which we do gladly, nothing is too much work for us and is of course free you can contact us easily with this request form , write it, send it and wait for our answer, there will be no spamming, newsletter or anything,,,just our reply.
Anyways have fun and if you find some websites which could be interesting for other folks, then please let us know and we’ll put it up.
Super Groupies, the site to visit when you’re looking for anime or manga related fashion or collectibles. They give you points which you can use on your next purchase.
Runatown is a great, be it a little cluttered, website selling anime inspired gadgets and collectibles. There is an option to choose English or other languages, but these provide just a slightly amusing google translation.
The place to go if you want to get this limited R2-Q5 virtual keyboard…only a few remaining.
Tamashi Nations or the Bandai Japan Collectors Division Official Site (wait that doesn’t spell Tamashi.!.?). They sell everything made by Premium Bandai, Bandai for grown ups as we like to call it.
Their biggest seller must be the S.H.Figurearts line which mostly consists out of limited figures based on characters of Japanese and foreign anime, kamen rider series and movies…but also pop stars like Michael Jackson
And now up for pre-order is Freddy Mercury from Queen!
Don’t forget the “body kun” series for aspiring animators!
Other shops specialized in Bandai products are:
Hobby Online Shop which is slightly more Gundam orientated but also sells other products but more “toy like” than the offerings on Tamashi.
Megatore has a lot of female figures, slightly so sexy if I may say so. When you click on Space ship Yamato in Hobby online, you’ll get a list of pre-fabricated models like:
But if you click on the link in Megatore, you’ll get something like this:
Finally for all you “kawaii”lovers, there is the Sanrio shop with enough Hello Kitty ,Little twin stars, and my melody to last you for months of clicking and drooling.
And for the first person to react we will give you 500 points present! Yes we can sign up on more of our staff and she will give you her 500 points (of course we had to pressure her..hard)
So there you have it, the first of four, let us know what genre you’re interested in and we’ll find the best site according to your interest.
Nobody does cute like the Japanese, it’s like their yin to their yang….Japan kinda invented monsters and other straight out of nightmares things like “yokai” which are otherworldly or inexplicable beings and the “kaiju” or strange beast. Believe in ghosts (obake) and spirits (Yūrei) is very strong, sure not everybody will openly admit this, but few eyebrows are raised if a person tells that he or she witnessed a ghost.
But for every Oni(devil) there’s a Kitty, for every kappa a my melody…And we are not only taking about fictional monsters…. for every bully there’s a Doraemon and for every prime minister there’s Mickey Mouse. So a country which creates and houses the world’s most horrible creatures, also creates the biggest amount of cute creatures(dolls and people included)..if that’s not yin and yang then what is?
Japan loves kawaii and kawaii is big business, kawaii girls join kawaii girl’s bands and play in sold out theaters, Disney Land is the most popular place to visit for Japanese, USJ (Universal Studio Japan) would never have survived if they didn’ have Snoopy, all the characters of Sesame Street and Sanrio’s Kitty. Cities and prefectures spend lots of (tax)money to create a cute mascot for promotion and hopefully increased tourism and trade..with mixed results. Make up companies are doing business selling mascara to make your eyes look bigger, giving you that manga kawaii look. The list goes on and on
This month Yahoo shopping site Smartphone Toy Store Hamee opened a new site called the “Kawaii Mansion(link)“, this site has a huge assortment of smartphone related and heaps of other kawaii goods.
